About us
Kayzer Ballet was founded in 2014, by Ricardo Runa in the city of Covilhã. The Company's objective is to decentralize the offer of Dance in Portugal, leaving the Major Centers (Lisbon and Porto) and promoting it among the populations.
Our Mission is to create and execute quality dance productions that engage and inspire audiences. We are committed to producing work that is artistically innovative, technically proficient, and emotionally resonant. We are dedicated to sharing the art of dance with the community through educational and inclusive programs, workshops and outreach initiatives. We foster an inclusive and supportive environment that celebrates diversity and embraces the unique contributions of each dancer and choreographer.
Through our mission, we strive to create meaningful connections with audiences, promoting the art of dance and contributing to the cultural landscape of our community and beyond.
Artistic Team
Ricardo Runa (Artistic Director)
Portuguese Choreographer, dancer and artistic director, recognized for founding Kayzer Ballet, in Covilhã, Portugal. He developed an artistic career that led him to form and direct an innovative and fundamental project for dance in Portugal, providing the country with a professional structure for young dancers recently trained in an artistic context in which dance has historically been poorly supported.
Since a young age showed a great interest in ballet. He trained as a professional dancer in classical/contemporary dance at the National Conservatory Dance School in Lisbon and studied in various institutions, with prestigious Teachers, both in Portugal and abroad, developing a solid technique and his own style that allowed him to interpret and raise with great sensitivity.
With his experience on stage, allied with his innovative and entrepreneurial vision, he founded Kayzer Ballet in 2013, a company that arose with the purpose of providing professional opportunities to young talents in dance, as well as to promote dance in communities that had poor access to this art.
Kayzer Ballet is characterized by its modern approach and its openness to diversity in dance, fusing the classical technique with contemporary dance. The company, under the direction of Runa, has produced creations that combine tradition and modernity, collaborating with national and international choreographers and organizing shows in various cities and theaters in Portugal and other European countries.
Kayzer Ballet has grown in popularity and recognition, establishing itself as a reference in Dance in Portugal and as a vital platform for the development of young artists in dance. Runa continues to lead the company, contributing to its creative vision and commitment to diversity and artistic quality.
